Socially Just Is

Systems in place to institute race Keeping the pace of our privilege Spacing out the village "just in case" Just because it's always been that way Just in time to save face WHERE IS THE JUSTICE when our silence keeps injustice synonymous with "the every day" "That's how the world works" so the powerless remain powerless. Those in power smile.  Systems in place to keep the power powerful At the expense of the voiceless Those in power have choices But they keep quiet To avoid riots And keep their jobs. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE when our silence keeps injustice synonymous with "the every day" "That's how the world works" so the victims remain abused because their leaders refuse to address the issues. powerless. Those in power smile.

Is everyone really equal? All lives matter, really If we know that as a fact, Why do we act Like our past Didn't rely on oppressing completely? Do we have the right to dismiss When people are silently yelling The hate response is overwhelming Look at the truth inside the shelling Get the issue right--listen to the heart Protests aren't attacks For the moment, lay down your guard Win is a win-lose Chose to understand the issues

Prejudice : it's our preference             Get this:                  Not good or bad, just tendencies that exist                  Internal thoughts based on assumptions                              The problem arises when people with gumption                                                                            act with corruption Discrimination : not only passing judgement as a group                           it's justification                             ...

My story is concealed. When the stock falls, the truth is revealed On the TV the promises show the truth through new lenses Like the Hunger Games, we're hungry for a truth that represents us The starving, hurt, and struggling The higher powers prevent us From telling By selling "The truth is the outer-shelling" There's so much truth within, sealed Because my story is concealed.

When one group is elevated higher than the rest and it happens at another's expense the pretense is making the situation tense because the dividing separation (preverbal fence) keeps the status quo in suspense. You know you can't pretend nothing is wrong unless you suspend belief in the song that you're taught to sing reinforcing roles in society taking no toll on rich piety under the façade that we're all the same team living the American dream. Don't just individualize. The problem lies with stronger ties. Excuses let abuses slide. Institutions lose and victimize. Hidden oppression suppresses confessional lessons and truth of the lessened suppressed. Given a lesson just opens the brain, but to trying to change all the system's a mess.
